Nick Clegg by Ralph Musgrave
"LEADER of the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg made the mistake of opening his mouth on the subject of the national deficit recently. As might be expected, that was too much of a temptation for his foot..."
Parental Contact by Pete Molloy
"THIS Sunday is Father’s Day and there will be many fathers, through no fault of their own, who will miss out on sharing the day with their child..."
And an unpublished letter to The Northern Echo by Adam Walker, below:
Pete Winstanley (HAS June 14) comments on several aspects of what he perceives BNP policy to mean. He has somehow come to the conclusion that the BNP wish to “control immigration according to skin colour”. This is simply not true. Actual BNP policy on immigration is to have an immediate ban regardless of skin colour until we can sort out who should and should not be here.
He refers to the term “racial foreigner”, which is used by the BNP to describe people who are not native of this land. Having lived in Japan for many years, I was known as Gaijin (outside person). Had I lived out the remainder of my days there I would never have been Japanese, so I was happy to be known as Gaijin because that is what I was.
Mr Winstanley asks if the BNP are racist and then comments that the British electorate “has delivered its verdict”. The verdict of the electorate is that the BNP are now Britain's fourth-strongest political party. Like it or not, this is something those name callers on the far left, including Mr Winstanley are going to have to come to terms with.
